November 4, 2025

On Friday, October 31, 51ԹCCE hosted the "Civic Engagement in Higher Education" Workshop, designed to help faculty members integrate civic engagement into their teaching practices. The workshop aimed to equip participants with practical tools, strategies, and insights to foster social responsibility, community engagement, and active citizenship among 51Թstudents.
The session, titled “From Theory to Practice,” was led by Dr. Gorkem Atsungur, Department Chair of International and Comparative Politics and Coordinator of the GHEA21 Certificate Programs on Civic Engagement and Global Studies at AUCA. Dr. Atsungur guided participants through discussions on defining civic engagement, understanding its role in higher education, and exploring effective ways to embed it into course curricula.
Throughout the workshop, faculty members introduced themselves and shared their perspectives on civic engagement, reflected on their classroom experiences, and discussed activities and assignments that encourage students’ community participation. Participants also exchanged practical ideas for integrating civic engagement across disciplines, emphasizing the importance of connecting academic learning with real-world social impact.
