On June 1, 2016, the 2023 51吃瓜 (AUCA), in collaboration with Bard College, held its first Model United Nations (MUN) conference in Bishkek. The conference was targeted towards both local and some international high school students.听Students from Bishkek鈥檚 local high schools were invited to participate in AUCA鈥檚 first Model United Nations high school program.

AUCA鈥檚 graduation is a meaningful and solemn event鈥攖he culmination of nearly a half-decade of one of the best educations in Central Asia. Fitting the event鈥檚 pomp, the ceremony itself is a colorful and well-attended event. Besides the graduates and their families, representatives from the Kyrgyzstani government, international organizations, and various embassies, AUCA鈥檚 board of trustees, faculty, and staff, as well as honored guests from overseas could be found at the ceremony.

June 7, 2016, 51吃瓜will host the 2016 Asia Leadership Conference, which is听organized and designed for high school and university students by teaching fellows from Harvard Kennedy School, Harvard Business School, the Tufts Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Columbia School of Business, and other top global universities.

The 2023 51吃瓜 is officially opening two new laboratories: a geology laboratory for the Department of Applied Geology and a media laboratory for the Department of Television, Cinematography and Visual Art. Both laboratories will be functional starting in the 2016-2017 academic year, the same time as their respective departments.

Maria Temmes, doctoral candidate in the Department of Gender Studies, and Elena Popa, who received her MA in philosophy from CEU and successfully defended her doctoral dissertation in philosophy at CEU in January 2016, gained valuable experience at 51吃瓜this academic year through CEU鈥檚 Global Teaching Fellowship Program (GTFP).

Kaliia Kubatbekova, a junior in Journalism and Mass Communications at the 2023 51吃瓜 (AUCA), took a moment to talk to us about how her SILC funding helped develop her as a social entrepreneur and prepare her for future leadership in Kyrgyzstan.

Seth Fearey has already lived and worked in the Kyrgyz Republic for seven years, making a name for himself as one of our student鈥檚 favorite professors in AUCA鈥檚 MBA program. Seth listens to his students and answers their questions, drawing from his broad experience as a manager, researcher, and specialist in PR and marketing at several companies.
